Mitigating Power-Outage Downtime
As a business, we have always prioritized staying online, but power infrastructure wasn't historically a major focus because grid outages were rare. However, severe storms across the U.S. have heavily impacted our services multiple times this year alone, making it clear that we needed a stronger safety net. To prevent future disruptions, we have successfully deployed an Uninterruptible Power Supply backup system for our core infrastructure. What this means for our operations:
Immediate Failover: If the building loses utility power, our server and internet will stay online without a second of interruption.
Buffer: The battery backup provides enough of a buffer for the restoration of power, even with an extended outage.
This upgrade directly mitigates our vulnerability to weather-related downtime, ensuring our business, and our services, remain resilient through the storm season.
Public Wi-Fi Access Notice: Costco/Palo Alto Wi-Fi Resolution
Issue Summary
We recently received reports from users stating that QubitVPN was failing to connect while on public guest networks, specifically Costco Wi-Fi. Users attempting to connect encountered connection timeouts or were redirected to a "Web Page Blocked" screen when visiting vpn.qubitvpn.com.
Root Cause Analysis
Upon investigation, our team identified that the underlying firewall vendor powering Costco's guest network (Palo Alto Networks) had automatically flagged our domain (vpn.qubitvpn.com) under a temporary "grayware" classification.
Because corporate and public guest networks frequently apply aggressive threat-prevention policies to unverified or newly indexed domains, the firewall dropped the underlying secure signaling traffic on Port 443 before the VPN tunnel could initialize.
Resolution & Current Status
We immediately filed a formal false-positive recategorization appeal with Palo Alto Networks security research teams to clarify QubitVPN's status as a legitimate, secure utility.

The domain reclassification has been officially approved and published globally. Enterprise firewalls will automatically pull this update during their routine security definition syncs.
What You Need to Do
In most cases, no action is required on your end. QubitVPN will connect automatically on Costco Wi-Fi and similar public networks.
If you are still experiencing connectivity issues on a specific public Wi-Fi network:
Flush your device's DNS cache to clear old blocked routes:
Windows: Open Command Prompt and run
ipconfig /flushdnsmacOS: Open Terminal and run
sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
Disconnect and reconnect to the Wi-Fi network to obtain a fresh lease.
Open the QubitVPN Desktop App and click Connect.
Still having trouble? If you encounter a block screen on another public network, please take a screenshot of the block message and contact our support team so we can initiate a recategorization request with that network's vendor.

We have decided to start including Premium VPN Servers with the Basic Plan (Cost: $5/month) as it would make QubitVPN a leader in the budget VPN industry. We are rolling out a major structural upgrade to QubitVPN. This release replaces our previous isolated peer configurations with a zero-trust Mesh Networking Architecture and introduces Splicate Network Login for unified account management.
What’s New
Full Mesh Networking Architecture
Previously, all servers and paired clients operated in complete isolation, requiring separate domain routing and manual peer-to-peer setup. With this update, all servers, laptops, phones, and home infrastructure coexist securely under a single, encrypted QubitVPN Network.
Inter-Device Communication: Servers and client devices under the same account can now communicate directly across the mesh network using private internal IPs.
Unified Network Scope: Your remote devices and local servers talk to each other as if they were on the same physical router.
Simplified Splicate Network Login
We have eliminated the manual setup process of creating peer configurations in the dashboard, downloading configuration files, and uploading them to every device.
One-Click SSO Setup: You can now log into any QubitVPN or NetBird client using your single Splicate Network Account.
Automatic Device Provisioning: Signing in instantly authenticates the device and joins it to your account's private mesh network without manual key generation.

Free Plan 2.0 Update
In this new version, you'll have a much simpler and easier to navigate dashboard. You will be able to create an account on your own that we can easily add your VPN client profile to. Thanks to this new dashboard, we will also be able to set up your VPN profile MUCH quicker. With this new update, we also have more activity monitoring such as connection location and specific user bandwidth usage. We can't see beyond that such as browser searches or anything similar but our ISP can, so be responsible. With all of these updates, we should be able to:
Cut processing time
Restrict users who are abusing the free plan and taking up bandwidth from others
Provide much quicker support
Help you navigate through the dashboard like it's nothing!
